Police arrest 2 members of a shop-breaking syndicate in Lagos

Two members of a 7-man gang whose alleged speciality is breaking of shops in popular Lagos markets have been arrested by the police in the State.

The arrest was confirmed on Sunday by the police zonal Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi who gave their identities as Yakubu Aadamu from Niger and Issa Musa with no fixed address.

He said the suspects were arrested immediately after their operations at the Idumota/Balogun markets.

“The arrest of two members of the gang was as a result of the swift response of the police operatives to a tip-off on the regular criminal acts (shop breaking) of the syndicate that have caused untold hardship and worries to the owners of some affected shops in the markets,” he said.

According to him, an unregistered Toyota Corolla was recovered from the suspects as well tools used for their operations.

“Also, due to thorough search conducted on their operational car,2(two) cultlasses,2 chisels and one heavy cutter were recovered at the bonnet of the car where they were concealed after their operation,” he said
