Police arrests 5 suspected cultists over Ogijo killings

The police in Ogun State have arrested five suspected cult members who were involved in a clash on Tuesday, leaving four persons dead, including a 16-year-old boy.

The suspects were paraded on Thursday at the headquarters of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Magbon, Abeokuta.

While parading them, the acting Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, gave the names of the suspects as Oluwatosin Mosaku, Tunde Adeleye, Olajuwon Kashimawo, Sunday Ajayi and Sarafa Oladipo.

He said the men were arrested in different parts of Ogijo after the mayhem.

He said, “On Tuesday, we got a report that there was a clash between members of rival cult groups in Ogijo. Five suspected members of the cult groups were arrested and among them was Kashimawo, who shot and killed a 16-year-old boy inside an MRS filling station.  Arms and ammunition were also recovered from them. They will be charged to court at the end of investigations.”

However, Kashimawo denied killing the victim, saying, “I did not kill anybody.”

Mosaku said he used to be a member of the Eiye Confraternity, but he denounced his membership in 2004.
