Police arrest leader of gang responsible for kidnap of CBN governor’s wife

The Police said it has arrested the leader of the gang responsible for the kidnap of Mrs. Margaret Emefiele, wife of Mr. Godwin Emefiele, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

This message as revealed in a statement by Force Public Relations Officer, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Don N. Awunah.

The statement disclosed that the suspect, Umar Abubakar was arrested in Niger State.

The suspect was said to have led the police to two  houses and three plots of land he purchased with his share of the ransom.

“The arrested kingpin confessed that he used N3million, part of the ransom, to open a provision shop in Minna, which he was running with his wife. The original papers of the houses and plots of land have been recovered and registered as exhibits and the shop also sealed,” the statement disclosed.
