Police ban public demonstration, jubilation as court delivers judgement on Kogi election appeals

The Kogi State Police Command has banned public jubilation and demonstration in the state as the Supreme Court will deliver its judgement on the state governorship election appeals.

The Commissioner of Police, Malam Abdullahi Chafe, announced the ban at a news conference in Lokoja on Friday.

The court will be delivering its judgement on two appeals filed against the emergence of Governor Yahaya Bello.

According Chafe, some persons were planning to begin a riot if the judgement does not favour them.

He warned residents of Kogi not to go against the police order.

“Kogi State is greater than any body. Police will not waste anytime in dealing with law breakers within the constitutional requirement,” he said.
