A police officer allegedly shot at Nkechi Chukwurah, the Chairman Ndokwa East Council in Delta State.
According to Southern City News, the police officer, identified as Dave, was attached to the security detail of Chukwurah, who is currently in critical condition at an unknown hospital.
Chukwurah had returned from a church thanksgiving and was entering her vehicle when David turned and fired at her.
In all, 22 pellets were found in the vehicle.
David has been arrested and is currently facing investigations at the Delta state police command.
Speaking on the incident, Chukwurah said David had confessed to hearing strange voices that ordered him to shoot at her and that he was under some spiritual influence.
“My orderly just opened the door for me to enter the vehicle while the policeman sitting on the front seat turned and face me with his gun.”
“The next thing I saw was fire all over me, as he shot at me consistently. I was lucky the bullet did not open my stomach. I was hit in other parts. It was God who saved my life.”
