Ronald Poppo, the homeless man whose face was eaten up by Rudy Eugene, now known as the Miami Face-eater has spoken out about his horrible experience saying his attacker initially acted friendly before launching an attack on him.

Poppo said that Eugene “just ripped me to ribbons.”

He said Eugene approached him, acted nicely, then seemed to remember something upsetting which had happened at Miami Beach and quickly switched mood going berserk, chewing Poppo’s face and yelling they were both going to die.

The victim narrated his ordeal saying, “For a while he was acting nice. Then he got flustered. He probably remembered something that happened on the beach and was not happy about it.

“He just ripped me to ribbons. He chewed up my face. He plucked out my eyes. Basically, that’s all there is to say about it,” Poppo said.

Poppo, who was homeless at the time of the attack has practically lost the use of one eye with the other eye severely damaged but he tries to somehow remain in good spirits. Doctors say his face would further need some work to correct certain anomalies.

While speaking to investigators, Poppo alluded to the fact that Eugene might be high on a substance to get so aggressive without being provoked.

“What could provoke an attack of that type?” Poppo said. “I didn’t curse at the guy or say anything mean or nasty.”

It’s sure that there’s more to the strange attack than meets the eye and Eugene, the only one who had answers to these questions is dead.
