Sunday, December 2, would be a date the garden city of Port-harcourt, wouldn’t forget in a hurry. It was a day Fashion met Rhythm. A fusion of Music and Fashion on the Runway.

The event which was sponsored by McDowells Whiskey, was tagged “Loungin’ on the Runway” and the Lesukaa Events Centre, Peter Odili Road, Port Harcourt, was where it all went down.

Loungin’ on the Runway was an avenue for young and enterprising artistes and designers to showcase their outfits to the oil-rich people of River State. The event packed full of entertainment.

As it often happens in these parts of the world, the event which was billed for 6pm didn’t start until about 7:15pm. it started with a red carpet event, which was hosted by the compere of the night, Mr. VC.

The main event kicked-off at 7.45pm, with guests on seat ready to let their hair down and enjoy the evening. The show started with a beautiful rendition by a Port Harcourt-based producer, Fome. Another performance by Adrnas, a ballet dancer, was well received by the audience. Several other performances also followed, which included dance groups, Divas and also the Thrillers. Lady Fifi, a banker cum singer, also thrilled the audience, performing 3 of her songs to the delight of the crowd.

On a night where 3 designers were on ground to showcase their outfits, the crowd craved to see the models strut their stuff on the runway. First out of the block with her set of beautiful models was CCC Fashion. The designs were a mix of African designs and English textile, which was appreciated by the crowd. When asked, the young designer said her inspiration comes from God and her environment

Next on was another designer from Enugu, Snazzy Fashion. His was basically a male collection, it was the best of color combination. Designer shorts and tops were also on parade.

The final, and main attraction of the night, one of the big names in the African Fashion industry, Ejiro Amos Tafiri. Her collections were a combination of classic African outfits. The audience were in awe of her designs, combined with her beautiful sets of models.

Ejiro Amos Tafiri’s collection stole the show as the audience practically applauded every model that came on the runway. Ejiro, who studied Fashion, was grateful to the cheering crowd, as she talked about her experience in the world of fashion.

Loungin’ on the Runway, in partnership with Team Ginger Claps would always remain in the hearts of the people of Port Harcourt. It fulfilled its promise of the fusion of Fashion and Music, which provided fun, glamour and glitz.

The Garden City is definitely yearning for more of these McDowells Whiskey showcase events. It can’t wait.
