President Jonathan commends the Nigerian police as he commissions Modern Police Estate in Lagos (WATCH)

President Goodluck Jonathan has commissioned the first modern police housing estate in Lagos.

In January, a Channels TV documentary on the life of students living in the Nigerian Police College Ikeja revealed the deplorable conditions they face and since then issues were raised on the general standard of living for the Nigeria Police Force.

According to reports, the President commended the initiative of the Nigerian police to provide affordable housing for its officers and also reiterated the commitment of his administration to provide affordable housing for Nigerians.

The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar was present at the opening ceremony of the housing estate including the Chief of Defence, Air and Army staff, the Minister of Police Affairs, Caleb Olukolade and chairman Police Service Commission, Mike Okiro.
