[The Presidential Blog] There’s absolutely no reason to stop crushing on Professor Osinbajo. Here’s why

For over a month during President Buhari’s medical vacation, Vice President Osinbajo took the reins and distinguished himself as an impressive leader by diligently attending to the demands of his office while maintaining a very open line of communication with Nigerians.

It was like Osinbajo was not a member of the Buhari administration we had become accustomed to. To say that we have missed him the past two weeks is an understatement.

We are happy to announce however though that we have news from the Office of the Vice President courtesy Mr Laolu Akande (Osinbajo’s media aide).

The Vice President has been meeting with an inter-ministerial working group to follow up on the renewed Niger Delta interactive engagements of the administration and has thereby released new directives to move the process ahead.

One of such directives we understand is the 30-day ultimatum(starting from today) given to all contractors including those handling Niger Delta Development Commission projects in the region to return to site or face prosecution.

This we suppose will get important but abandoned projects to start running again and effectively fast track the muich needed development in the region. If they do not comply with this directive, a list of defaulters will be compiled and sent to the Ministry of Justice and the Economic & Financial Crimes Commission for investigation and prosecution.

The Vice President also assured that he has not abandoned plans to visit the remaining States within the oil-producing communities so as to effectively conclude the interactive engagements with the people of the region.

“Specific instructions have also been given to the Ministry of Environment to ensure and report on the progress of the Ogoni Clean-up, for which a Project Office is now located in Rivers State and is functional.” And interestingly, there arte already plans underway to start considerations for the clean-up of other polluted areas in those communities.

Who doesn’t love a working Vice President?
