Protesters disrupt Osinbajo’s stakeholders meeting in Edo

Protesters on Monday disrupted a stakeholders meeting held by acting President Yemi Osinbajo in Edo State.

The trip by Osinbajo to Edo State is part of efforts by the Federal Government to dialogue with aggrieved persons and groups in the Niger Delta.

The protesters demanded that the acting President visit oil producing parts of the state instead of Benin.

A protester, who represented Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), said they were told Osinbajo cannot visit their region due to security reasons.

“If you cant come to our place, leave our oil alone,” he said.

Another protester said the region was not feeling the impact of the ministry of Niger Delta like other states in the region.

While speaking, Osinbajo said the closure of the Abuja airport contributed to the cancellation of his visit to the regions.

He promised to visit oil producing regions before leaving the state.
