Obasanjo-and-Jonathan1

The Presidency yesterday took another shot at former President, Olusegun Obasanjo in response to the letter he wrote to President Goodluck Jonathan.

Chief Obasanjo had written an 18-page missive on December 2 fiercely criticizing the current administration under President Jonathan.

One of the accusations the former leader laid down was that the president was training snipers in preparation for 2015 to ensure that he retains power by all means.

The Presidency has responded to this allegation by saying that Chief Obasanjo should either produce evidence to support his claims, or “shut up forever”.

The Nation reports:

Although the statement by Presidential Adviser on Media and Publicity Dr. Reuben Abati, did not mention the ex-President by name, it was clearly a response to that portion of his letter.

The Presidency requested the former President to prove his claims or forever remain silent.

The statement reads: “President Jonathan is running a people’s government. He does not need any snipers. His legitimacy comes from the people.

“Those who are alleging the existence of snipers should step forward and provide the evidence or shut up forever and go down in history as spineless cowards, driven by sheer greed and indecency.”
