Rain destroys over 100 houses in Plateau

Over 100 houses and farmlands in Fobur, Angware and Rinji Angware of Jos East local government area of Plateau State have been destroyed by a heavy rainfall.

In a press statement signed by the assistant chief information officer of the local government council, Bagudu Haruna, it was revealed that the disaster took place after a heavy downpour yesterday washed away some farmlands stressing that some farmlands have been overtaken by streams and stones brought by the flooding volume of water from rivers and mountains, thereby destroying crops like maize, vegetable and other cash crops worth thousands of naira.

The  chairman of the local government, Brig. Gen. Samuel Atu Abok (rtd), who carried out an on-the-spot assessment of the damages in the areas affected yesterday, expressed shock and deep concern over the incident.
