The Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba has assured Nigerians of a hitch-free election as citizens go to the polls next year.
Abba gave the assurance in Kaduna today while addressing the rank and file of the Kaduna State Police Command.
According to him, the policemen have gone through a series of training to equip them with necessary skills to supervise a violence free election period.
Abba said, “The officers and men of the force have undergone training for the purpose of next year’s general election to ensure that both the voters and the election officials are well protected.”
He urged policemen not to engage in activities which had hitherto soiled the image of the police warning that anyone caught doing so will be punished accordingly.
The IGP said the familiarization visit to Kaduna was to update the officers and men of the command on the vision and mission of the Nigeria Police force.
Earlier in his speech, the state Commissioner of Police, Umar Shehu, told the IG the successes recorded so far by his men in the areas of crime prevention and ensuring a peaceful environment.
