Rejoinder: Dear gay lover, do you really know God? (Poetry)

by Clement Molu

Black gay couple

In eyes that chose not to condemn. Eyes that made her realize that she is forgiven. With stern words: “Go and sin no more”

– This piece is in response to another by Soyombo Ayomikun titled Dear gay hater, who made you God? (Poetry)

Once upon a time, some claim to love LGBT more than God

They quote Words from the greatest man that ever lived

Unfortunately making silent the true essence of the account in order to justify themselves

Maybe trying to suggest that the Great man supported wrong doing

Then said ‘he who hath no sin should cast the first stone’

#The crowd sublimed like smoke

From the tip of a quenched matchstick previously aflame

They disappeared one after the other

Into dark crevices to go kiss their sins a little more

Trembling, the woman found redemption

In eyes that chose not to condemn

Eyes that made her realize that she is forgiven

With stern words: “Go and sin no more”

#Nigeria our Nigeria

We should condemn this act to its roots

But we should rather look for a way out of it

Churches discuss this openly in your synagogues

Mosques discuss it openly in your arenas

Accept secret counselling for those involved

Open your welcoming arms with a view to re-shape their thinking

The world is perverse and we all need re-orientation of the mind

I will suggest we trace our steps back to the greatest man we’ve been quoting wrongly

And seek forgiveness and purification

Only in Him can we all be saved

If you care to know who this great man is

at His name every knee will bow

LGBT will bow at the name of Jesus.
