The alleged shoplifter got away, but authorities believe they know who she is.
The chase was recorded by local TV station Kiii, which had a tower camera in an opportune place. In the video, a panicked Morales can be seen sprinting away after being confronted, dropping the bag in the process.
“One of the suspects took off running out of the store,” Lt. Robert Alvarado of the Corpus Christi Police Department told the station. “The loss prevention officers were pointing to her, so one of the officers gave chase. As she got toward the freeway and show[ed] her intentions of crossing the freeway on foot, the officer disengaged his foot pursuit so he or she wouldn’t get hurt.”

The woman may have been spooked by cops, who were at the scene on another matter.
After crossing the highway, Morales actually ran to the Kiii TV station, and then sprinted toward a Denny’s restaurant, according to authorities.
