The official residence of the Deputy Speaker of the Edo House of Assembly, Festus Ebea, has been razed by fire.

According to sources, the fire was said to have started on Wednesday night and destroyed the bedroom portion of the house and personal effects worth millions of Naira.

Speaking to newsmen about the incident, Ebea who is representing APC Esan South-East said he was able to retrieve his certificates but the fire destroyed documents relating to his office.

Leadership reports:

He said it took the combined efforts of the neighbours who came with fire extinguishers and water to put out the fire.

The deputy speaker listed some of the personal effects destroyed to include, computers, plasma TV, air conditioners, phones, Bank documents, official documents and an undisclosed sum of money, among others.

He, however, gave God the glory that no life was lost, saying that the cause of the fire may be traced to anelectrical fault.

“I do not suspect any foul play,’’ he added.
