Oh well.

Sam Smith has revealed that should he win the Grammy Award for Album of the Year at next month’s Grammy Awards, he’ll be handing it over to Beyonce.

He is going to do this because The Queen Bey is his hero.

Both artists are tied with six nominations each at the ceremony, with the male diva picking up nods for Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best New Artist while his album In The Lonely Hour, which has gone multi-platinum on both sides of the Atlantic since its release last May, goes up against Beyonce’s self-titled fifth record for the Album of the Year.

They’ll be battling it out with fellow nominees Ed Sheeran, Pharrell and Beck, but according to the 22-year-old powerhouse vocalist, no one deserves the trophy more than the Drunk In Love chart-topper.

“She deserves it way more than I do,” Sam explained in the latest edition of Rolling Stone where he graces their prestigious cover. “I’d be embarrassed if I got it over her. If I got it, I’d give it to her.” We’ll see about that if his name’s read out on the night.
