The Secunda Highveld Christian School in Mpumalanga, South Africa, has issued an ultimatum to the lesbian “parents,” of one of its pupils; they either get divorced or their son will face expulsion from the school, according to Gay Star News.

Samantha and Kally Mabe, a married South African lesbian couple, were told that they must split up or face having their child removed from the Private Christian school.

The pastor of the school said that the Mabes had never indicated their s*xual orientation and that because they were gay it was causing problems. He also said that if they didn’t split up or remove their child he would consider legal action against them.

Apparently the 5 year old boy, their son, told his teacher that he had two mothers which culminated in the teacher reporting this fact to the school principal. The administrators of the school, upon hearing this called the Mabes to discuss the situation.

According to the Mabes, Highveld was present when they went to the meeting with the principal and both men insisted that they remove their son from the school or they would do so themselves by removing his name from the list of attendees.

Kally, who is the boy’s natural mother, said that the two men told them that their school did not cater to their type of people and said that, had they known about their lesbianism, their son would never have been allowed to register at the school in the first place.

In the Mabes defense, however, the women claim that they never hid anything about their lesbianism from the school and even told the school that there were two Mrs. Mabes when they registered the boy.

According to the two women, the school threatened them with legal action when they saw that they were not going to remove their son from the school.

Jasper Zwane, spokesman for the Mpumalanga Education Department, told the Gay Star News, “We view such matters in a very serious light, and even though the school is independent, we will still find out what happened and make sure that whoever worked outside the legal framework is brought to book.”
