Senate to screen Magu for EFCC chairmanship on Thursday

After over a year as acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Nigerian Senate is set to screen Ibrahim Magu, The Punch reports.

Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu who presided over Wednesday’s plenary said a confirmation screening will be held for Magu on Thursday.

Magu has been in acting capacity since November 2015 when he replaced Ibrahim Lamorde.

A later dated June 17 requesting Magu’s confirmation signed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari was sent to the Senate.

The letter, which was received at the Senate on June 22 as indicated by the official stamp on it, was not read by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, until July 14.
