FG, again, lands in ECOWAS court… over Fulani herdsmen

#TheNewsIn6Lines:

A civil rights group, the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP), on Wednesday, May 4, instituted a legal suit against the Federal Government at the ECOWAS Community Court of Justice in Abuja.

The suit is as a result of the government’s inability to prevent the Fulani herdsmen killings, the military and the police.

The suit, with number ECW/CCJ/APP/15/16, was filed by the Solicitor to SERAP, Femi Falana.

The legal luminary said in the suit, that those ‘responsible for these human rights violations and abuses by the military, police, herdsmen and other unknown perpetrators which have not been adequately prevented, investigated or prosecuted by the authorities.’

The group further alleged that the inaction of the federal government heightened the violence across the country.

So what: The federal government is most likely, based on precedent, going to ignore this suit.
