A man in Ekiti has asked a court in the state to grant him a divorce from his wife of 7 years due to her semi-literacy.

Oladele Olatunji made his petition before a customary court in Ado-Ekiti, the stated capital, saying that his wife, Opeyemi, was unwilling to further her education.

Oladele also said that his wife exposes their secret conversations to family members, fights frequently, invites third parties into their matters and causes him public embarrassment.

The petitioner stated that his wife had refused to further her education despite pleas from him and insisted on remaining a fashion designer.

The wife however denied the allegations against her and said the delay in furthering her education was caused by her husband who said he couldn’t afford it yet. She also accused her husband of abandonment.
