Apparently frustrated by his inability to have sex with his girlfriend, a university undergraduate Emeke (surname withheld) in Igbiegwa Quarters, Ute-Erumu, Ika North East Local Government Area, Delta State has committed suicide.

Emeke, an undergraduate of the Delta State University, was said to have jumped into a well in his family compound after desperate efforts, including visiting several herbalists, to revive his failed organ. The deceased was said to have also visited several churches, especially white garment churches, where he was subjected to 31 days fasting and prayer to solve his problem, all to no avail.

Emekus, as he was fondly called by family members and friends, was said to have had a heated argument with his girlfriend over his inability to have sex and had promised to make it up to her. The lovers checked into a guest house at nightfall, only for his manhood to fail him again.

A family member who gave her name as Emilia said on the fateful Monday, after the episode with his girlfriend at the guesthouse, Emeke sold his clothes and shoes after which he left a suicide note on his bed. She said she had heard him shouting and came out of the room to find out what was wrong with him only to see him jump into the well. The deceased was buried after payment of a fine fixed by elders of the community, who described his action as a taboo.
