Soldiers invade 3 Bayelsa communites destroying 43 houses

Armed Soldiers on Thursday invaded three Communities in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa state, according to the Leadership.

The affected communities are Peremabiri, Akamabugo and Tikogbene where the soldiers allegedly destroyed over 43 houses and carted away three speed boats.

One of the communities, Peremabiri, is the country home of a front line Former Militant leader, Comrade Eris Paul popularly known along the creeks and waterways as General Ogunboss.

According to indigenes of the community the invasion was allegedly coordinated by loyalists of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State.

Eyewitnesses say that the soldiers numbering about fifty beat up two youth leaders, as they also destroyed family homes of General Ogunboss, Million Gobo, Richard Marcus, Elkenah, Bernard Osunawei and many others.

When contacted the former militant leader called on President Buhari, the Minister of Defence and the Chief of Army Staff to investigate the matter.

He said the community had no link with the Niger Delta Avengers and they won’t be intimidated by the PDP or the state government.

He said “the people of Peremabiri are not known to be involved in criminality. And have never had any link with the Niger Delta Avengers. The Peremabiri people will never allow the PDP and the State Government to intimidate them under any guise. We have the right to support the political party we want.”
