“Bring back the girls” She told the king “Yes ma” He replied
1.She was
But a little girl
Who chose
To confront hell
She cherished education
To the point of dying for it
Terrorists decided to silence her forever
She got shot
2.Her face
Got shattered
But not her voice
Not her soul
She kissed death
But escaped its embrace
She became a force
One that stormed Nigeria
3.”Bring back the girls”
She told the king
“Yes ma”
He replied
“Visit the families affected”
She told the king
“Yes ma”
He replied
4.We made these pleas
Even before Malala came
We cried our eyes out
A march was even staged
Just to see our king placate our souls
To see our king pat our backs
He instead stayed concealed
Behind his perfumed walls
We were tagged enemies
Souls that should be his children
5.Then we woke up
To hear about Levick
A foul PR firm
That chose to come lick
Off our sadness
Off our tears
Off a government long lost
Seeking to salvage a gangrene
6.Levick can’t remold the truth
Levick can’t rewrite our story
Levick can’t bury our failures
Levick can’t stop the bombs
Levick can’t deceive the world
Into believing that our leaders are doing the best
I think what you need now,my lord
Is the ‘Miraculous Deliverance Of Oga Jona’
A vision revealed to your daughter
Chimamanda Adichie [READ HERE]
7.Your advisers
Are ruining you rapidly
Pitching you against your children
Tagging us your enemies
Perhaps they told you
Not to go to Chibok
Not to visit unity fountain
To keep acting strong
We don’t want a strong king
Who can’t protect our walls
We want a weak king
Strong enough to inspire our hearts again
Just for once
Come tell us you’ve failed us
Tell us you’ve made mistakes
But promise shedding your blood
If required
To take us home
Where calm awaits us
So we can smile again
8.As Adichie said
Wear the red shirt with us
Let us see you
Embrace mama Obyezeks
Apologise for the harsh words
Your aides have said to us
Go to Chibok
Hold their hands
Kiss their cheeks
Physically wipe off their tears
Pray with them
Shelter them
Reach out to us in our sorrows
Silence your aides calling us names
Cleanse the military
You may not win all hearts
But you’ll win some more
Levick can’t salvage a gangrenous state
Your miracle is home!
