Arsene Wenger is close to swelling the German ranks in his squad, after reportedly agreeing a £23million deal for Sami Khedira with Real Madrid.
According to a report in Sport, Arsenal will beat Chelsea to the German midfielder’s signature and he will sign a four-year deal with the North London club.
Khedira’s current contract expires next year and Bernabeu chiefs are keen for him not to leave on a free at the end of next season. Although Jose Mourinho has worked with the 27-year-old in Madrid, it is understood that Khedira’s friendship with Ozil and the other Germans in the Arsenal’s squad played a crucial part in his decision.
Alexis Sanchez has already arrived at the Emirates in a £30million transfer and Wenger is close to landing Mathieu Debuchy from Newcastle.
