FOSLA Academy emerge Abuja champions of Copa Coca-Cola grassroots

FOSLA Academy has won the Abuja faction of the COPA Coca-Cola grassroots finale after defeating Junior Secondary School, Zuba by 5-4 in a thrilling final game played at Government Secondary School, Tundunwada. Their victory means FOSLA’s will be representing Abuja in the remainder of the COPA Coca-Cola competition.

The final match which had all the intriguing moments of a final match as FOSLA Academy took possession of the competition from the blast of the whistle.

Set for the final clash to determine the 2016 FCT champions for COPA Coca-Cola, both teams went head to head in a penalty shoot-out. The match eventually ended in FOSLA Academy’s favour as FOSLA boys trounced the Zuba team 5-4.

Former FCT Champions, Government Junior Secondary School, Goza  managed a 1-0 win over Government Junior Secondary School, Tundunwada with 13 year old Michael Achinze scoring their winning goal and securing their slot at the 3rd place winners

“The COPA Coca-Cola football competition is our own way of providing a platform for young footballers to express their passion for the game and be rewarded for it.”Marketing Director, Coca-Cola Nigeria Limited, Patricia Jemibewon said.

The Copa Coca-Cola grassroots finals will be followed by the group stage Tournament billed to commence this week in which 32 secondary schools will participate.
