Step aside, Mum! Deola Sagoe’s daughters to launch design label CLAN this month

by Ifreke Inyang

There are new Sagoes in town! Over the years, designer Deola Sagoe has imprinted her trademark designs in Nigeria and beyond, and now it appears she has made imparted her romance with style into her teenage daughters.

Clan is a new fashion label with a fresh and irreverent style. Their pieces are strictly for edgy, style-conscious girls who like to stay ahead of the fashion curve. Teni, Aba and Tiwa Sagoe who were born into the eponymous and legendary fashion house, have channeled their collective fashion heritage to bring their own vision to the fore.

The label, which is apparently created with those in the teenage to thirties bracket in mind, offers dynamic fashion that’s easily accessible, yet savvy and distinct. The exciting collections include bra-lets, high waisted print shorts and Ankara bustiers, casual lounge dresses and swim wear, as well as wardrobe staples such as chiffon shirts and dainty lace skirts for the free-spirited and young at heart. The overall look is super-stylish, an essential pointer to what the cool girls and guys will be wearing next.

As the brand name implies, Clan speaks to the power of family, the magic that comes out of being part of a bigger picture, whilst still being unique and different, and having the courage to experiment that’s always fantastic to watch.  Clan will launch with their first fashion show on the 13th of August 2011. The event will be  held at the Deola Sagoe Flagship store in VI.
