Stranded Aero passengers complain over luggage chaos in Enugu

by ‘Jola Sotubo

Passengers who boarded an Aero Contractors flight from Lagos to Enugu on Thursday have been left stranded after the airline failed to convey their luggage.

Some of the passengers who intended to travel to other destinations from Enugu were forced to wear the same clothes for almost two days due to the absent luggage.

Even more frustrating, according to the passengers, was that the airline failed to give an explanation as to why their luggage was delayed as it should ordinarily have come with them in the same flight.

Nigerian Eye reports:

The passengers said they were highly disappointed by the attitude of the airline’s staff in Enugu for failing to give any explanation regarding their inability to convey the luggage along with the passengers, stressing that the act was against standard practices by airline operators.

Former Vice President, Dr. Alex Ekwueme and former gubernatorial aspirant in Anambra State, Dr. George Okpagu and Justice D. T. Okunobi were among the passengers on board. Only about ten luggages belonging to Dr. Ekwueme and other Business Class passengers were conveyed by the aircraft while those belonging to those in the Economy Class were left behind in Lagos.

Mr. Chido Obidiegwu, a Public Relations Consultant, who spoke with newsmen at the airport when the aggrieved passengers converged to receive their luggage yesterday, said that the passengers were shocked to discover on arrival in Enugu Thursday that Aero Contractors conveyed them without their luggage, a development, he said, imposed severe hardship on the passenger.
