Student crushed to death by bus driver in Abia [DETAILS]

by Azubuike Azikiwe

An undergraduate student of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State, was on Monday, 18 August, crushed to death outside the university gate by a bus belonging to Akwa Ibom State Transport Corporation.

The student, identified as Cynthia, was a diploma student at the department of computer science. She reportedly died on the spot, which prompted fellow students to burn the vehicle that killed her.

The driver of the bus would have been lynched, if not for the intervention of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Hillary Edeoga, who pleaded with the irate students to spare his life

The students were reportedly enraged because of the recklessness of drivers attached to the Akwa Ibom Transport Corporation, who they say have been warned severally to slow down whenever they approached the school gate.

The corpse of the murdered student has been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Umuahia.
