Suicide: Man found hanging from a tree inside the MKO Abiola Int’l stadium

A body was found hanging from a tree inside the MKO Abiola International stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta, Ogun State on Sunday in a suspected suicide case.

It is believed the man committed suicide by hanging himself on the tree by the cricket pitch of the stadium.

The man still remains unidentified and according to reports, he did not leave a suicide note or an identity card of some sort.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said:

“A trader whose shop was close to the pitch where the young man hung himself alerted the police about the incident.

“The command has started an investigation into the incident and that steps are already being taken to identify the deceased.”

The Punch reports:

Our correspondent learnt that the body of the man, suspected to be between 28 and 30 years, was brought down from the tree by policemen from the Ibara Division.

He was confirmed dead by the management of the state Hospital, Ijaye, where he was taken to shortly after he was brought down from the tree.

Adejobi added that the corpse of the man had been deposited at the state hospital for autopsy.
