An appeal filed by the Lagos State Government challenging the acquittal of Maj. Hamza Al-Mustapha and Lateef Shofolahan of the murder of Kudirat Abiola will be heard by the Supreme Court on Thursday.
The appeal Court in Lagos in 2013 had discharged and acquitted both suspects after the Lagos High Court had sentenced them to death in 2012.
The Lagos state government has since filed an appeal challenging the judgment of the Appeal Court in discharging Al-Mustapha, a former Chief Security Officer to late Head of State, Sani Abacha and Lateef Shofolayan.
Kudirat Abiola, wife of MKO Abiola was shot in Lagos in 1996.
