How sea pirates killed 4 marine policemen in Rivers

Four marine police officers have been killed by suspected sea pirates in Rivers State, according to residents of the community.

Channels Television reports that the incident occurred in Abonnema waterways in Akuku Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State when a gunboat was hijacked with the policemen on board.

The gunboat was reported to have been attacked by armed militants on Sunday after it left Abonnema Wharf Jetty for a routine patrol.

One of the corpses was seen floating on Monday with gunshot wounds after the other three had been recovered earlier, with the gunboat missing.

The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, DSP Nnamdi Omoni said the command had begun compiling its report on the incident.

However, the police authority in the state is yet to issue an official statement on the incident.

This attack is coming after the military lost some officials in a boat mishap on Monday in Bayelsa state.
