Suspended lawmaker, Jibrin flees Nigeria over alleged murder threats

Suspended lawmaker, Abdulmumin Jibrin has left Nigeria over alleged murder threats on his family for his budget padding campaign.

The lawmaker in an interview with BEN TV London on Monday said he would remain on exile until his safety is guaranteed.

Jibrin also faulted the silence of President Muhammadu Buhari on the allegations, stating that it was not in the best interest of the country.

“The situation currently at hand is different from the initial stage of the crisis. The silence of the presidency is no longer sending the right message to Nigerians and the international community,” he said.

Jibrin said over N284 billion was inserted into the budget, a development he said was the first in the history of Nigeria.
