A man has been arrested in Edo state for beating his wife to death because  a snake had been killed in their home located at Uzebba-Iuleha, Owan-West Local Government Area.

In the community, killing a snake in the house is believed to be an abomination and  murder suspect, Godwin Idon said he got very angry.

The deceased, Marvis Idon got into a week long quarrel with Godwin after one of their sons had allegedly killed a snake in their living room.

Finally, Marvis with her mother-in-law decided to seek the intervention of a native doctor to know the implication of the son’s action but when she returned, her husband was very suspicious and made more accusations subsequently hitting Marvis on the head with a plank during a fight.

She reportedly collapsed and died.

The Police Area Commander, David Jimwang, who confirmed the incident, told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the man has been arrested and transferred to the state police command, Benin for further investigation.

The body of Marvis is in a morgue in Sabongidda-Ora, headquarters of the council.
