The dangers of online dating have again been highlighted as a young girl is said to have fallen victim to rape by a man she met on Facebook and his accomplice.

The suspects have been identified as Felola Uzezi and Mohammed Sanni, both customs officers.

The duo have been arrested after reports that they raped the unnamed 23-year-old girl who had struck up a friendship with Uzezi through the social media site.

The victim is said to have visited Uzezi after months of chatting with him online but on getting to his home near the Badagry Expressway, he had forceful sexual intercourse with her and invited a friend to join in the act.

The girl is said to have refused to have sex with Uzezi because she was on her period but this didn’t deter the suspects and when they were done with her, she was allegedly given Uzezi’s boxers to clean up with.

The victim reported the case at a neighbouring police station and the suspects were arrested for the crime.

This comes after the publicized murder of Cynthia Osokogwu who was raped and killed by a man she had also met via social media.
