‘Nigeria’s elites only think about themselves’ – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday revealed that he he knows how to deal with any person or group that tries to derail the war his administration launched against corruption.

He revealed this during the breaking of his Ramadan fast, Iftar at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja.

The president lamented about the selfishness of the elites in the society when he played host to some physically challenged persons, the Internally Displaced Persons and taxi drivers to mention a few.

He lambasted the elites for being selfish and not thinking in the interest of the country,

“Whoever deter us from fighting corruption will suffer the consequences. It is unfortunate that the elite are self-centered and they only think about themselves.”

“Be assured that we care about you at all times. This government is concerned about your welfare and we will work hard to improve it,” Buhari said.

Other guests at the Villa include artisans such as butchers, hairdressers, barbers, tailors, members of the Buhari Support Organisation, President’s neighbours in Lobito Crescent, and junior workers in the headquarters of the All Progressives Congress.

Buhari was joined at the dinner by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal; the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Muhammed Bello, and some presidential aides as well as top government officials among others.

Senate’s Deputy Chief Whip, Senator Alimikhena Francis represented Senate President Bukola Saraki, who is in Saudi Arabia for the lesser Hajj.
