The Future Awards 2011: Here are the winners!

by Sola Fasasi

The 2011 edition of The Future Awards held on 30 January at Landmark Village, Oniru Estate, Victoria Island, and the event lived up to everyone’s expectations as Africa’s largest youth event. The highly anticipated event turned out to be a night of high glamour and excitement as Nigeria’s most remarkable young people were celebrated.

In trademark style, the event kicked off with a powerful rendition of the national anthem by Segun Obe, Ego, Essence and ChiDynma. The hosts of the night, Silverbird’s Yvonne ‘Vixen’ Ekwere and Ebuka Obi-Uchendu expertly anchored the first half of the show, handing over to a dapper duo – Studio 53’s Dolapo Oni and Dr Sid of Mo’ Hits Records.

Upcoming female group Chase, gave the first performance of the night, and Lara George, Subomi, Sound Sultan, M.I and IcePrince followed, each warming the crowd more and more as the night went on.

In line with the theme for Season 6 of The Future Awards, ‘I Am Naija’, Chude Jideonwo, the Managing Director ofRedSTRAT Communications (the owners The Future Awards) delivered an electrifying speech titled ‘No more excuses, it’s time to save Nigeria’, and with another inspiring address from Keynote Speaker Dr Olusegun Aganga, and special appearances from ‘Salewa’ of Tinsel, IK Osakioduwa, AY, Genevieve Nnaji, Jedi and Tiwa Savage among other celebrities, The Future Awards 2011 was certainly a night to remember.

We congratulate all the winners!

  1. Ermmmm google is available to everyone @Lolo if you don't watch tv at least use your search engine before you make statements like that…….Congratulations to all the winners and nominees for this years awards continue to do what you do best.

  2. For the red carpet omowunmi looked fab in capital letters, I want that dress!!!

  3. If it's the same Tana that did the zain promo show and the coca cola football show during the world cup she was in our faces quite a lot in 2010,I think she is a worthy winner. Didn't she do a talent show of some sort, and that music show on dstv?come on you guys I guess u just have beef for the young lady…. give her a break "one off anchoring gig" lol

  4. Ronnie, adaobi and Nina, young pple have come out to appreciate their own and show that the youth are the future of this great nation, everyone can't win at the same time, let's give them a chance. Life is not that hard. If u have personal problems with the winners, why don't u trash it out rather than pour beef out like this. By the way, they have taken their awards home so let's focus on doing meaningful things with our lives or better still, join the future awards team and let ur voices be heard. Thank u cap wearer, future awards is the best and most credible!

  5. Welldone to the winners but there are quite a few people whom I think did not deserve to win. I think Tana egbo who was barely visible in 201 should not have been even nominated based on her one off anchoring gig as peak talent hunt show. I do not think is is a fantastic presenter either; if anyone should have one it should have been Yvonne Period! PS: she did a great job hosting the event, she's hilarious!

  6. Madam Ronnie,

Nnaemeka, Muideedn, Debo and at least 7 others are out of Lagos.

    Think before you talk.

  7. I think you guys didnt do your research well….its a biased list i think the only person worthy of this award is my homeboy TOLU OGUNLESI, all of the award recepients are in Lagos? it should be named LAGOS STATE FUTURE AWARDS….by the way whats Mercy Johnson doing there(are you celebrating her nudity in movies..haba!!!pls spare me this….

    1. Your commentary smacks of ignorance. You may have heard some ignorant person say this out of malice and you come here to repeat it. Is Tolu Ogunlesi not Lagos based? Hello? Young person of the year works in Imo State and done all his work in Imo State. Please move on to the next transformer … and hug it. Winner of best use of science works in Ogun State. Creative Professional operates from France, a nominee for Young Person of the Year operates from Germany, another from the US. I know people like you – you achieve nothing meaningful but hang around to tear down anything others have built. Move on to some other nest … Future Awards is the best and most credible.

  8. Who in the world is tana? It is bad enough that you would put kemi adetiba an acclaimed musicvideo director along side yvonne whom I think is doin well so far. Sorry but I'm begining to second guess your credibility.

  9. I don't intend to rubbish your list, but Nike Fagbule deserves the professional of the year category. I read her profile, and she looks like she has done far more than others or even the winner

  10. Wow.
    Fanastic 🙂
    Great list of proud nigerians!
show ya sef and keep the positivity.

  11. Congratulations Tolu Ogunlesi for winning journalist of the year. The sky is your limit! You are highly celebrated

  12. I am so glad for Matse of wazobia fm…that girl is a wonder.

  13. So… so hppy dat my role model(Genevieve Nnaji) was given an award and others so impress, keep it up(future award) the lord will b ur stenght

    1. It so sad that those who you used thier hard earned money to buy the ynaija magazine and also came from far distance to for the pre award confrence at unilag where not given invite. at least the awards were for young poeple and from what i saw in the media it was many old people that came to the event
