The Future Awards Africa nominates Kemi ‘Lala’ Akindoju for the International Visitors Leadership Program

With The Future Award Africa continuous drive towards empowering its Alumni, it is with joy that we announce the nomination of Kemi ‘Lala’ Akindoju for the International Visitors Leadership Programme in the United States. Her work in the entertainment industry in Nigeria has earned her critical acclaim as she is set to feature in her first major blockbuster, Dazzling Mirage. Having won The Future Awards Africa, Actor of the Year 2010, she has appeared in over 70 stage productions.

Akindoju joins other alumni of the awards representing the Nigerian youth on various platforms inspiring change and leadership in the country. Other alumni who have benefited from the IVLP program in the past years’ are Akin Rotimi, winner, The Future Awards Africa Prize, Team of the Year 2010 and Toyosi Akerele, winner, The Future Awards Africa Prize, Best Use of Advocacy 2008, just to mention a few.

With the increasing potentials embedded in the Nigeria youth and in bid to promote social change through art, the inclusion of The Future Awards Africa Alumni on the International Visitors Leadership Programme in the United States is a laudable commendation .

The Future Awards Africa prides itself in identifying young Nigerians who stand to be the much needed influence of change by excelling in their endeavours as young entrepreneurs/creative/innovators in their own capacity. Also to note are, Mosunmola Umoru, who won for Business Owner of the Year in 2009, Nnaemeka Ikegwuonu who was Young Person of the Year 2011, and Hassan Rilwan, a three-time nominee for Business Owner of the Year who were recently added to the 492 man delegates at the ongoing National Conference in Abuja.

The International Visitor Leadership Programme is an initiative of the US embassies around the world. Launched in 1940, the IVLP is a professional exchange program that seeks to build mutual understanding the U.S and other nations through carefully designed short-term visits to meet and confer with their professional counterparts, gain a greater understanding of U.S society and experience American culture firsthand.
