The Future Awards Africa Winners Spotlight: Aisha Augie-Kuta (Creative Artist of the Year 2011)

Abuja based photographer Aisha Augie-Kuta was the winner in the Creative Artist of the Year category of the 2010 edition of The Future Awards Africa. She got her start in photography at the wee age of seven when she received a film camera as a present from her father. She went on to study Mass Communication in university, taking courses in photo-journalism and Dark-Room techniques along the way. She also studied Media and Communication at the Pan African University in Lagos.

Augie-Kuta, who is married with three children now, quit her 9-5 job as a human resources manager when she realised she was more interested in photography. Her first paid photography job was a wedding, soon after which she began doing exhibitions in Lagos, Abuja and New York.

Augie-Kuta also has a degree in Digital Filmmaking from the New York Film Academy.
