‘The thought of security throwing me out breaks me’ – Enyeama

by Desmond Akatugba

There is unrest in the camp of Nigeria’s senior national team, Super Eagles.

Last night, it was discovered that the team’s goalkeeper and captain, Vincent Enyeama was nearly thrown out of camp after he reportedly came in late to the team’s training base in Belgium.

Apparently, he had taken permission from team gaffer, Sunday Oliseh to bury his mother who died in September.

The Lille FC of France shot-stopper had a spat with his coach who asked him to leave the base and even went as far as getting security to have the keeper sent away.

It took the intervention of the Nigeria Football Federation to step in and return calm between both parties before the skipper was allowed to remain in camp

An irritated Enyeama expressed his discontent over the manner in which he was humiliated at the base of the Super Eagles in Verviers, Belgium.

Breaking the silence for the first time since the incidence happened on Tuesday evening; Enyeama revealed that he’s pained at the insult hurled at his late mother.

“After 13 years on national service, having this smiles on my face and this passion in my heart,” Enyeama wrote on Instagram.

“Through the billows, the waves of the ocean, the tears of defeat, the sound of rejoicing from victory chants. Now the thought of being stripped naked and security agents throwing me out breaks me completely.”
