Even before the conclusive results of the Edo elections were officially announced, results trickling out from various ward showed APC in the lead, causing members of the PDP intense annoyance.
Demola Olarewaju, a staunch member of the PDP, who tweets @DemolaRewaju, said the Edo people should react to the news as they please, and PDP should not tell anyone to be calm. This sparked a debate on Twitter, as Demola was immediately accused of inciting violence, which then led to a brief English lesson. Suffice to say, PDP members are not crazy about this news.

— Demola Olarewaju (@DemolaRewaju) September 29, 2016
There's now a huge difference between what we have collated and what we hear INEC has. Waiting for official confirmation but it's bad.
— Demola Olarewaju (@DemolaRewaju) September 29, 2016
– Pls announce results quickly so that Edo residents can know you compromised.
Woe betide any PDP leader who calls for calm.
— Demola Olarewaju (@DemolaRewaju) September 29, 2016
Our leaders in PDP Edo must be encouraged to stand strong. National Leaders of PDP should get in touch with them and strengthen them.
— Demola Olarewaju (@DemolaRewaju) September 29, 2016
You may want to start preparing for tribunal and court
— Chi (@JajaPhD) September 29, 2016
Long thing: let our leaders here start alerting people that what they're expecting is not what @inecnigeria intends to announce. https://t.co/kYQuclzlKf
— Demola Olarewaju (@DemolaRewaju) September 29, 2016

— Demola Olarewaju (@DemolaRewaju) September 29, 2016
PDP leaders should not stand in the way of the reaction of the People of Edo. So I say again:
Woe betide any of them who sues for calm. https://t.co/I9WsTixNK3
— Demola Olarewaju (@DemolaRewaju) September 29, 2016

Perhaps the People of Edo plan to dance and rejoice, who knows?
But no PDP Leader should ask them to be calm sha pic.twitter.com/nCzgxJfKbw
— Demola Olarewaju (@DemolaRewaju) September 29, 2016
To APC e-diots:
Violence is not the Opposite of 'Calm'.
It could be Rejoicing, Dancing, Celebration etc.Edo People shouldn't be calm.
— Demola Olarewaju (@DemolaRewaju) September 29, 2016
If you're a violent person, you'll see violence in everything and I really can't help you.
But see my PDP Leaders? Do not be calm sirs.
— Demola Olarewaju (@DemolaRewaju) September 29, 2016
God forbid violence if that is what you want but the people of Edo should react however they choose without hindrance. https://t.co/bNz53Iq7yW
— Demola Olarewaju (@DemolaRewaju) September 29, 2016
TBH your tweet was way overboard and you know it. No need trying to twist it around.
Trying to incite violence is a No-No— Son of Grace (@tosinadeda) September 29, 2016
TBH that's how you choose to see it.
When one isn't calm doesn't translate to being violent.
— Ameh-xis (@Ovyko) September 29, 2016
Explain it to me please…
"don't be calm" after an election result is announced…
What can that mean?
— Son of Grace (@tosinadeda) September 29, 2016
1. Peaceful protest
2. Celebrate
3. Be vocal about how you feel about it…— Ameh-xis (@Ovyko) September 29, 2016
"Woe betide any pdp leader that calls for calm"
Please explain to me how this is not inciting violence.
— Son of Grace (@tosinadeda) September 29, 2016
@MrAbuSidiq @Ovyko @DemolaRewaju He thinks he's talking to fools, trying to re-explain the statement is even an insult.
— André | Dokpesi (@GottiLavida) September 29, 2016
His audience have already taken his manipulative maneuverings as CLARIFICATION ?
— Son of Grace (@tosinadeda) September 29, 2016
Brazen daylight robbery. They simply manufacture results and there's no outrage? It is finished. Please wear your chains with pride. ??
— SEGA L’éveilleur®? (@segalink) September 29, 2016
told someone this earlier. INEC is completely dead, either you fight for your votes or just ?
— Adetutu Balogun (@Tutsy22) September 29, 2016
on guessing @APCNigeria will do "whatever" it takes to secure this election.
— TheKingsHand™ (@dblacson) September 29, 2016
INEC should not waste time. Afterall they historically suspended collation yesterday by 1am to rig. Let them declare war already!
— SEGA L’éveilleur®? (@segalink) September 29, 2016
The rigging in Edo State comes with CHANGE written all over it…
— Khaleesi ?? (@AbangMercy) September 29, 2016

That's the sore point. Oredo LGA. Figures changed overnight. Why Oredo? Hugest number at play. That's the future of democracy in Nigeria.
— The Great Oracle (@AbdulMahmud01) September 29, 2016
Oredo LGA Results. INEC should listen to itself. One truth stands: the electoral gains made between 2007 and 2015 have been reversed by INEC
— The Great Oracle (@AbdulMahmud01) September 29, 2016
@DemolaRewaju I am surprise that the present governor dat came in tru d will of d ppl has refused to allow the will of the people
— Simeon, L .D (@eelesdoo1) September 29, 2016
@akaebube So when we clamour to be free from this fraud of a country, you should begin to appreciate our concerns
— enekwachi (@OkorosonG) September 29, 2016
We hope people steer clear of violence. If anyone has some reason to believe the results are false, they should take their grievances to the courts.
