The Water was Hot: A literary tattoo?

by Onyeka Nwelue

We know of our literary stars shining in the UK and the US, but never in India, which is the second biggest book market after China.

But this month, Serene Woods, a publishing firm based in Delhi, will be releasing Binyerem Ukonu’s The Water was Hot.

It is a collection of short stories. Infact, Binyerem’s voice is engaging. His stories reveal anger, stress, bitterness, childhood, fears and hate. However, to summarise it, he is a born storyteller and a classy one at that.

Binyerem Ukonu works and lives in Bonny Island, which is the channel of inspiration for the book. It is going to be a big break for Nigerian writing in Asia, as Serene Woods is also about to unleash another Nigerian book.
