#TheExperienceReport: Wait, no Catholics allowed?

Something niggles the mind from The Experience yesterday.

If you pay close attention to the ministry and vision of Pastor Paul Adefarasin, you know it’s centered on a unified inter-denominational church, that comes together for worship, to influence the culture and to hack Nigeria’s leadership.

So yesterday on stage, he did make the point, by asking the worshipping audience to identify themselves by their choices, so it would be apparent to all that everybody was there, from every part of the country, and from every (mainstream) Christian denomination.

He called Baptists, he called Methodists, he called Anglicans, he called African Methodists. He called Pentecostals, Lutherans and we think Evangelicals. But he said absolutely nothing about Catholics.

Zilch. Nada. Silence.

Weird.

We want to believe it was a harmless oversight right. Or is there a particular reason rooted in theology?

It was a rather odd – and glaring – omission, especially in a message that was about unity. We would be really glad for someone to share these perspectives with us.
