by Wilfred Okiche

Abiola David Aina, or the artist known as Flowssickk, recently held an album listening party where he premiered some tracks off his upcoming disc. We sat down with Flowssickk and he revealed why he could just be the Next Big Thing.

What kind of music do you do?

I call my style of music “simpmusic”; it’s a mixture of different styles and genres of music. I enjoy experimenting with beats to make good music basically.

When did you start your career in music?

I started music when I was quite young ,I was in a musical group Neno Brown Entertainment which was a 6 member crew but I started out professionally in 2010 working with the likes of Ice Prince, Shank, Dammy Krane, Davido amongst others and so far it has been a wonderful experience.

Where does your inspiration come from?

God and my family.

What was the reaction from your family and friends when you decided to go into music?

At first it was hard for my parents especially my mother to accept it but with the response I was getting from friends and fans they kinda reasoned with me and gave their support.

What are your plans for going mainstream?

I hope to record more songs that are original and African. I intend to work with more acts in Nigeria and others internationally.

How has the reception to your singles been so far?

The reception and support has been wonderful, radio airplay has been great  with more and more online music oriented websites putting up my songs and giving me the platform to have a greater reach. I am ever thankful for the media guys and everyone that has been showing me love so I am optimistic of going far with my music

Who are your musical influences?

A lot of my musicians have been a source of inspiration and influence but I give it all to Drake,  Vybz Kartel and Shank.

How do you work on your talent?

Well, I have a morning therapy on that *laughs*,  I take a hot cup of coffee with honey and drink less of cold drinks and less alcoholic beverages.

What do you do when you are not performing?

I write songs, play video games or football.

Have you entered for any of the reality talent hunt shows?

No I have not.

You recently had an album listening party. When does the full album drop?

The album works is in progress and you would be one of the first to know when it drops.
