The Niger Delta Avengers has dismissed insinuations that that it is a terrorist group, stressing that it is only fighting for the betterment of the oil rich region.

Speaking with a BBC reporter, Avengers explained that the motive behind their persistent attacks was to ensure that the Federal Government develop the Southern region.

The group said, “We have carried out a lot of attacks on pipelines, stations and platforms.

“We are not terrorist, we are only fighting for our right, we have been taken for granted and enslaved for many years and now enough is enough.

“We are not fighting for selfish purpose, we are doing it so that our communities will be developed.”

Warning that if the Federal Government fails to meet their needs, the Avengers said, “Things will get worse, it’s better for the country to divide so we know where we belong.”
