16 DAYS OF ACTIVISM AGAINST GENDER VIOLENCE CAMPAIGN IN NIGERIA 2011 (#16Days)

(25 November – 10 December, 2011)

This year, a series of alarming high profile incidences such as the UN Bombing, Boko Haram, election violence and the continuing conflict in the Niger Delta and the northern part of the country led us to ask questions about ‘where we are going as a Nation’.

 Specifically, incidences regarding violence against women and girls in certain places have caused us to ask if indeed we are safe in our own homes. Incidences such as the vicious killing of ‘Titi’ by her husband to the brutal rape of young women in Abia, Kano, Edo and Lagos cause us to question if indeed this government is concerned with promoting and protecting the rights of women and girls in Nigeria.

 

As part of the international campaign against gender violence, a few organisations are hosting various activities to continue the conversation around this critical issue. Some are listed below.
