Otodo-Gbame

Governor of Lagos state, Akinwunmi Ambode, has made no bones about the fact that he intends to turn Lagos into a modern mega city. And he’s kept his word, what with the demolition of shanties, illegal structures, Agege and other areas sporting street lights, the soon-to-be-disappearance of danfo buses etc.

In order to achieve this wholesome facelift, the government is targeting waterfront communities too. On the 17th of March, it was gathered that the Lagos state government, in defiance of a court order, went ahead with forced evictions of the occupiers of the waterfront community- Otodo Gbame.

Otodo Gbame is in the news again. The Lagos state government is attempting to explain why thousand of settlers in the community are now homeless.

Co-founder of Transparency International, Oby Ezekwesili wants Akinwunmi Ambode to resolve the situation by dialogue before it blows up in the government’s face. Do see below:

Thank you.
