Tiara Stevens and her son are both mother and son as well as brother and sister. Her father did the unthinkable to her when she was still very young and now they have a teenage son together.

Said Stevens,

“That confuses me a lot. It’s like, ‘Which one are you today? Are you my son, or are you my brother?’ Because he really is both.”

Paternity tests have verified that Stevens’ son is also her brother because her father had inappropriate relations with her since she was 12 years old. According to Stevens, the inappropriate relations were a routine in their house. She said,

“He never told me what he was doing. It was just late at night. He would come in, take my clothes off, and he would have [relations]. And he would leave and he would say, ‘You better not stay up all night,’ and I would go in the bathroom and I would cry. The next night he may not do it, but the next night, he would repeat the same thing.”

Stevens eventually fell pregnant but she says that she didn’t realize it until days before she was about to deliver the baby.

The now 27 year old said,

“The only place I went was to the hospital. Never went to any doctors appointments or anything. Only thing I remember is passing out at school. I really didn’t get big or nothing.”

Stevens, who did not know she was pregnant, described how her father realized she was pregnant,

“He had done what he usually did to me and the baby kicked and when he did, he said, ‘Get up, hold your shirt up. You’re pregnant.”

In January 1999 Stevens gave birth to a baby boy. The authorities were alerted and her case has been pending since then. She said,

“I didn’t do nothing wrong, and what the system is trying to do to me is not right, waiting 14 years for justice.”

After more than 10 years, the case against  her father is set to go to trial on Nov. 5.

Because her son’s genes closely match hers, Stevens says her son has health issues. She says,

“Everyday, I look at my son, his health conditions because of what [my father] did, so [my father] has actually got it easy. I’m the one that’s got it so hard….He loves computers. So that’s what he’s working on at school. He’s in 9th grade now. He’s a freshman.”
