Some years ago, then American Idol Judge, Simon Cowell, threw lemons at American Idol finalist, Mandisa, and she took those lemons and made lemonade in the form of an amazing weight-loss story.
On Monday, Mandisa appeared appeared on Good Morning America looking much slimmer than her American Idol days. Mandisa was a season five contestant on American Idol when she had her unfortunate run in with Simon Cowell.
The 35 year old gospel singer shared that the rude comments made by Cowell motivated her to start on her weight-loss journey.
In 2006 after Mandisa made it through another round in American Idol, she was all set to go to Hollywood when Cowell asked, “Do we have a bigger stage this year?”
After Cowell insulted Mandisa, she started becoming more physically active and frequented Zumba dance classes. Mandisa is now proudly 120 pounds lighter and also a Gammy nominated artist.
As for Simon Cowell, Mandisa says she has forgiven him, something that she did a long time ago and would be willing to tell him if she ever ran into him.
Says, Mandisa, “I’ve been forgiven for so much. I can extend that same grace to him, but then I would follow it up and say, ‘How ya like me now?’”
