TICKER: Danny DeVito and wife separate after 30 years of marriage

Another celebrity marriage bites the dust.

Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman have separated after 30 years of marriage, the couple’s rep Stan Rosenfield told “Entertainment Tonight.”

DeVito, 67, and Perlman, 64, met in 1970 after Perlman went to see a friend in the Broadway play “The Shrinking Bride” and fell for DeVito, who was also in the production. The two were married on Jan. 28, 1982, and have three adult children together.

In 1983, Perlman told People magazine that DeVito “was a lot more fun and a lot more sexy” than her previous suitors, and DeVito recalled that Perlman was “vibrant, with a great sense of humor, and real warm.” The two moved in together after two weeks.

The comedic couple are just the latest Hollywood duo whose decision to separate comes as a surprise. In September many were shocked and saddened to learn that Amy Poehler and Will Arnett also decided to separate, after nine years of marriage.
